Jamie takes a moment to collect himself after the Chevalier leaves. Vauban. That's easy enough to remember, and he can at least get himself to the correct wing.

He waits until the marquise has retired. On his way, he stops briefly by the salons to make sure the Chevalier is not still there enjoying himself, but Jamie doesn't find him. He makes his way through unfamiliar corridors, certain he's found the right one, but...

He catches a hall boy and asks quietly where Vauban's room is. From there, it's easy. He crosses the hall to the Chevalier's door and quietly lets himself in.
